ASA WORLD 2015
MEDICAL MISSION TRIP
Dr, Anakwenze invited me to come
along on the ASA World 2015 Medical Mission Trip
I have traveled to West Africa for the first time! I now have been in Nigeria 3 weeks and travel on to Ghana. Here are highlight from the difference we made in the lives of marginalized, under privileged areas in Anambra State Nigeria!

 I traveled with ASA WORLD MEDICAL MISSION, INC. (A US 501(c)(3) organization to Abuja & Awka, Nigeria West Africa.

  I was housed at the Crystal Palace Hotel,
 it was the home base for my research.

When team members arrived, we then flew to Enugu then drove to Awka where we were housed at the De Geogold Holtel in Awka.

met the team of international physicians, (Urologist, radiologist, pharmacist, pharmacy technicians, public health professionals, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, surgeons and surgical assistants, who examined, diagnosed  and treat the residents of the following 7 towns for Free!

 We set up each day in 7 different towns. 
Oko, Ohembosie, Abagana,
Aguleri, Ozulbulu, Aba, Obosi

The team traveled from July 7th - 14th daily by bus to different towns, providing FREE medical screenings, diagnosis
and medications to the town's residents.
A London ASA Volunteer & I spoke to patients while they waited.
 

The Nigerian Red Cross, Oba Brothers and many other organizations
 assisted ASA World 2015 Medical Mission,
 in Ozubulu town in Anambra State Nigeria

Several days the medical teams and volunteers saw
and treated more than 1000 people.


The wonderful doctors & nurses stopped to pose for a
photo for me before the got started.

People started to arrive daily at 5:00am
 to see the medical teams. 



Some of the targeted ailments documented by the
public health workers with us, were eye disease, 

cataracts, glaucoma, high blood pressure,  prostrate cancer, diabetes, breast cancer & high cholesterol


We dispensed up to 3 months of free medication to those who were examined. The local doctors, medical clinics and hospitals worked with us. They will continue the care of their local people. 

Nigerian Customs Officials drove 9 hours with the pharmacy to us!

Pharmacy professionals & students
worked long hours to dispense medications.

 

Doctors & nurses brought their traveling medical equipment.
Thanks to your donations and the contributions
from 27 countries throughout the Diaspora.

Local media supported us everywhere we went.

rates of illness of all the towns we visited!

We met & dined with many dignitaries, including the HRM  rulers of the
Nri Kingdom and Governor & Mrs. Willie Obiano (below)
 in Awka, Anambra State Nigeria where my Ancestor Peter Farrow came from!

the Govenor's Lodge in Awka, Anambra State.

The governor's wife donated a wheelchair to a woman
who had to be carried to see the doctors by 4 men.
  I was blessed to bring the eye glasses. 

Now she can see, her smile was our reward!

I did my research in each of the towns &
visited local schools to assess needs 
and meet students and faculty.
It is my first time on African soil!
The work continues in Ghana.

study of herbs and medicinal foods continues.
I am collecting information for my new books.
